In the post 1997 time, policies of HK facilitate the property market and so the property price rised. Many HK people made easy money and so the whole economy boomed. What important was :- the government was able to generate lots of money in the ways of tax income and selling lands. Therefore, the British HK Government was able to have a huge reserve handing over to the HKSAR. If HKSAR did not have the huge amount of reserve, she could not cope with the asian financial turmoil. With such good amount of reserve, it would not be too difficult for HKSAR to deal with the increasing social and economic problems which were brought about by her poor administration.
Apart from the financial reserve, British had handed over to HKSAR a good legal system, which is obviously better than those of the Mainland. Strangely enough, HKSAR Government did not mention anything related to the above but put all the blame on British. Since 1997, she had all along been shirking her responsibility for the poor economic condition and HK citizens' lack of confidence in future.
