I also have a 8L cube and I can't agree more on this. Water evaporates fast, but my only concern is fish jumping out from the tank.

Can u share more on your water quality control? Nano tank is so algae-prone, it's a headache

M A T R I X please put the Mr. apart and call me André. In here we are all friends. Thank you for your words and answering your question, i now have 3 tanks, this one here, one with 53 L and one with 140L. I´ll post the 53L in a new topic with the present layout.

auch my fish nowadays don´t seem to stress, as they are totally aclimated to the sorroundings of the tank and even when I open my bedroom window, they don´t care much though in the begining they had their momments of stress with this. To be honest with you, I don´t care much for my water parameters. I only know my pH that is 7 and my total hardness ( kH) that is 6. The algae control I do it when I observe the plants health and their needs in fertilization. I also have a good cleaning team, 5 otocinclus so all goes well. Only green spot on the glass and some beard algae on the older leaves of Eleocharis. This will all go away when the tank becomes more stable and CO2 levels increase.

kenny eheheh you´re right, for half-an-hour I stay awake to watch all the composition before I fall asleep like a rock. Thank you for your comments.

but I queried why you need NO3 fert, shouldnt be plenty of it already in such a small tank not heavily planted?

Thanks man! I tried to build the layout exactly as I imagined some days before. Turned out like this. The substrate is Aquaclay, it is similiar to ADA substrate in colour and granulation but I don´t think it has the same effect ( ADA lowers the hardness and pH, it has macros, etc). It is very porous though and that is a great advantage for the root system and bacterias to have healthy development.

As for the NO3, you are right. I can maintain good levels of NO3 in this small tank but some extra NO3 won´t hurt them. It is just to have a little bit more of N in case of rapid consumption by the plants or if by some reason i can´t fertilize them in that day/days. I just add two or three drops so I can have every day between 5 and 8 ppm of N in the water column.

Yes auch, it is absolutelly normal. When you´ll have your tank more balanced, all algae will disappear. My advice for you is to start to dose the right quantities and nutrients to accelerate the plants metabolism and consume the excessive nutrients that cause algae problems.
