My Swordfish (female) "ALL" ("ALL" is the Chinese sound, in English I mean "excrete") its intestine out but the intestine is still with the body - it is hanging around the fish's anal.

It happened 10 days ago and I'd put the fish into an isolated tank, hope it can recovered automatically but it does.

Any medicine can cure the fish?

Can you please take some pictures of this fish?
If its intestine is exposed to the external environment..
the fish should die immediately on that day within a few hours.. :f

Oh... :f It is not the intestine...this organ is the fish's air bladder (魚鰾)~
It should be ok and you don't need to isolate it...so it's ok to put it back to the main tank~ :a
This is a genetic disease that can't be treat with medicine, if you feed it properly with adequate amount of foods...the air bladder will reduce its size and go back into the body again...however this process might take some time and all you need to do is to be patient~ Hope this helps.. :e

Thanks very much Pinoki!

Yes you reminded me how it happened - I was feeding the fishes and this fish was very agressive, it ate a lot and it's belly was inflated like a balloon. I then saw the bladder came out. And yes the bladder has become smaller compared to 10 days ago.

I value this fish a lot because it is the only Greensword female. I also have a male so I hope they can make offsprings. Yes Greenswords are not expensive (HK$15 per pair) but I seldom see them in the market (Fish Street).

Thanks again.

No worries... :e She will be alright if you keep the food amount adequate and don't overfeed them~ :-n08
Swords are more aggressive then platies (eg. 紅滿, 米奇), and especially during feeding time..maybe you can try to spread the food evently in the tank so that other fish might have a chance to eat the food without being attacked by the swords, and try to limits the food to be gone within a minute so that you won't overfeed them. :a
It is indeed a lovely fish and I really do hope they can produce some little fins for you in a short period of time. :-n10
