Is there an algal growth problem?

No any algal growth problem. Only green spot sometime was on the glass surface.

I don't think you need a heater in winter time but A/C is essential in summer.

The lamp was modified by my friend( from Atman PL18W x2 to the existing one). From soil surface to the lamp is 12". Last summer, i bought a fan(six head). The temp. of the tank might keep around 28C.(20 L tank). It is a problem to lower the temp. of it. One lamp may be switched off.
