Recently I bought No Frills brand spring water, I checked with the ingredients of the spring water, it contains
Calcium 59 mg/L
Sodium 3.5 mg/L
Magnesium 27 mg/L
Sulphates 8 mg/L
Nitrates < 1 mg/L
Bicarbonates 281 mg/L
Chorides 5.5 mg/L

Base on the above stated minerals , can I use it to increase the water hardness ??? Please kindly advise. many thanks

- yes, it can raise GH cos' of high calcium and magnesium in it ... it just depends on how much u put into ur tank and u have to adjust the volume very carefully....
- for the ratio of Ca:Mg, it may not the best for grass tank (but it is much better than tape water in HK) cos' Ca is a bit low while Mg is too high. however, i think it is not a big problem, it might cause calcium deficieny only.
- other ingredients are safe for plants and fishes. cheers!

note:
HK tape water -- Ca:Mg approx. 9:1
Nofrills spring water -- Ca:Mg approx. 2:1
ideal ratio of Ca and Mg -- 3:1 or 4:1
