水草情迷

This is the sketch of the tank and cabinet in my new home. After turn on the HQI for some hours, the temp. of water is exactly 30 degree (27 degree if HQI turn off )...........

For most DIY cooling system, heat of the tank water is reduced by evaporation of water and / or blow the surrounding cold air onto water.

But in my case, the space inside the space of the cabinet is also very hot............and I do't want so many water escape into my "ENCLOSED" space of the cabinet.......

Is a D.I.Y. cooling system possible in this case ?

咁密實都幾煩, 前面真係密不透風, 後牆/櫃頂可否裝抽氣扇? 如老人話齋抽走水氣和部份熱氣, 上面的櫃門改用百葉門可能會疏氣d...... 然後再加diy風扇係缸邊, 或者頂櫃加部水冷都可能得.

Once I propose my main tank 2 years ago, I also intend to make the layout similar with you...Finally, I give up by following....

1.Closed clipboard without good ventilation in such case, Now (May), just the beginning of summer already over 30 degree, you guess without chillar and switch on the HQI, Would the temp. of the tank over 36 degree in July & Augest??? Answer is must....

2.Even you may use chiller, but you should make some way for the chiler to "release" the "hot gas"....

3.Special for grass tank, we all know that everyday we should have some grass cut or some thing else that you should put your hand into the tank,also, once you think about "exchange water", it must cause you headache...........

But the problem is that I have already made the cabinet and already put the tank into the cabinet..............

However, the cabinet is not 100% enclose.......at very begining stage of the design, I already think about the problem of ventilation, so, I make some grooves between the doors......may be I can post some photos of my cabinet later on for further discussion.............

Well...It's not the time to mention should or not should make the layout which you choice...If you really want to plant a great number of grass with some of they are "high" light demand...
Spilt type chiller (I don't know where could find it) together with HQI seem be the only choice...Otherwise, just plant some "low" light demand grass (such as Moss....), then, T5 or PL light could be used under such situation result in no chiller needed......

Thank you Kit for your suggestion, again, however, I have already install the DIY HQI, also, I think HO T5 is too expensive to replace the HQI........(also, I do think the light and shadow made by HQI is more attractive than T5, PL & FL.......).

Now I am going to do is to make a pipe to draw air outside and blow it to HQI.......

Another thing is a "closed cooling box", I hope it will work...
