水草情迷

Hi Brothers, I'm going to reset my tank and thinking of adding sand in the front portion of it. Should I put soil under the sand layer? I see some of you (and some of the shops in FS) do that but others do not. What're the pros and cons? Your professional advice please.

所以.應該吾洗放泥系底先吧..

Hi Fish Fan,

Technically, using sand in the front part can increase the contrast and more important is preventing too much plants growing on that covering the sand.

As size of sand is much smaller than size of soil, in the long run, sand will go between soil and fill up the space between soil. Two disadvantages:
1. no contrast colour as you expect.
2. decrease the space as well as stopping trapping air in soil for growing of roots and bacteria.
