What's the difference between 陰草 n 陽草?
Which one is easier to maintain?
Any difference of equipment to be setup?

陰草 much easier. :grin:

Low lighting requiremnet + no CO2 (not a must)

In the most extreme case, no equipment is needed.

I'd agree that 陰草 have low requirement but it doesn't mean that they don't need CO2, fertilizers, lighting... etc. Although there are species (limited) that can still survive without some of them, the plants cannot grow in good conditions as they should be.

handmade CO2
ADA soil 1

By the way I can still put some little fishes and shrimps, right?

If you purely keep 陰草, I would recommend you use substrate like Flourite, or Eco-complete.

No, not that soon. You have to wait for 1-2 weeks before you can add a few fishes. The completion of n-cycle takes time. You have to be patient. I'd suggest not to add more than 3 fishes each week, starting from the 3rd week. The total no. of fish should not exceed 20 for easy control for newbies.

I believe that n-cycle will not complete, it won't even start to develop if you have no animal inside, unless fishless cycle is used, such as adding ammonia or dropping dead fish or shrimps into the tank.

U can try to buy them forrm "易手產品/自家繁殖/買賣/送贈/徵求" (viewforum.php?f=2), much cheaper

One thing i like to add though, from my experience with low light plants, which i have been keeping for the last 3 years, and now changed back to high light, CO2, and full fertilizing. Most low light requirement plants don't really benefit from CO2 injection, they look the same, and growth rate is the same. In fact, some species look better and more natural with no CO2 injection.

Yes, i sold my car a couple of years ago, and a 6 ft tank require some big CO2 canister, I have 3 X 5kg, without a car, I simply have no easy way to recharge them, so I stopped injecting CO2 and see what I could grow. Surprisingly, most plants survive, and in fact, many of 陰草 or 1/2 陰草 did just as good if not better and many 陽草 didn't die. Until recently, I bought a car again, so I am back.

No problem, but I rather believe in experience than reading from webs. Many things you read from webs, are in fact, ppl read from other webs, so on and forth, and things become legend that way. I used to believe CO2 injection is a must for most plants if not all, however, seeing my own tank's growth in last 3 years, I have no choice, but to believe what I can see with my own eyes.
